Hill County Electric Cooperative’s 67th Annual Meeting Held on May 12th

Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) held its 67th Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Student Union Building on the campus of Montana State University-Northern in Havre, MT.  Close to eighty HCE members plus guests attended the business meeting and luncheon. 

During the business portion of the meeting, HCE’s Board and Management encouraged HCE members to make their voices heard to our legislators on issues regarding energy regulation.     During the election of Trustees, Gerald Rutledge, District #4, and Clarence Keller, District #5, were re-elected by unanimous ballot.

Four “Luck of the Draw” scholarships were awarded during the meeting to dependents of members who attended the meeting and will be enrolled in an undergraduate program this fall. Winners included:  Tarah Jurenka, $500; Mikell Kinsella, $500; Layne Waid, $300 and Shelby Lipp, $200.  Winners of the $100 attendance scholarships were: Breanna LaValley, Brenee’ Peterson, Daniel Bitz, Kristi Hickman, Sabrina Robertson and Taylor Warren.  Daniel Bitz was present with a $500 HCE Workforce Development scholarship and Mikell Kinsella was presented with a certificate for winning a $1,000 scholarship from Basin Electric Power Cooperative (Basin).  Shelby Lipp and Jonny Bacon were the winners of the $250 Power of Youth cash prizes.

Members received attendance gifts, door prizes and had the opportunity to learn more about HCE’s Grassroots Action Team, Cannon meters, HCE’s service area, energy policy legislation and the Co-op Connections Program.  Joe Troiano, HCE’s new electrician, was introduced to HCE’s members.  Tracy Fugere helped attendees enjoy Basin’s “Story of the Switch” interactive display available for those attending.   

Stuart Smith was re-elected President of the HCE Board of Trustees.  Clarence Keller is Vice President and Lon Waid remains as Secretary/Treasurer.
